Web Site Launched to Report Performance Data for Illinois Hospitals, Surgery Centers

The Illinois Department of Health has launched its first Web site where patients can review pricing and quality data about the state's hospitals and surgery centers, according to a report in the Chicago Tribune.

The Web site will publish information from Illinois' first Hospital Report Card and Consumer Guide, which was established as part of legislation passed in 2003, according to the report. The site went live at 9 a.m. on Nov. 19 and is available at www.idph.state.il.us or www.healthcarereportcard.illinois.gov.

Consumers will be able to see data from many hospitals and surgery centers in Illinois including pricing information, how many procedures are performed at the facility and how often they deliver recommend care and patient ratings, according to the report.
