Stan Nelson, one of the co-founders of VHA and a former chainman of the American Hospital Association, has died at the age of 85.
Mr. Nelson served as VHA's part-time president from 1977 to 1981, when he was CEO of Henry Ford Hospital in Detroit.
Mr. Nelson also was the CEO of Parkview Hospital in Fort Wayne, Ind., and Northwestern Hospital in Minneapolis. He eventually helped lead the merger that formed Abbott Northwestern Hospital.
