A new tax on Wisconsin hospitals has allowed the state to collect $1.65 in federal Medicaid reimbursements for every $1 taxed, according to a report by WBAY TV.
The Wisconsin Department of Health Services said hospitals paid the state a total of $382 million more in the first year of the new tax and received $582 million in increased Medicaid payments.
The extra revenue has also helped to expand the Wisconsin's BadgerCare plan to cover 60,000 childless adults.
