Steward Launches First Health Plan for Small Businesses

Boston-based Steward Health Care has launched Steward Community Care, a limited network plan that will be available to small businesses April 1, according to a system news release.

Through a partnership, the plan will be available through Fallon Community Health Plan. Under the Steward plan, care will be delivered by a hospital or physician within the Steward network. All healthcare services that cannot be delivered by the Steward network will be delivered by Brigham and Women's Hospital or Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston. Tertiary-level pediatric care will be provided by MGH for Children.

"Small business is a vital economic engine, particularly in the communities served by Steward hospitals," Ralph de la Torre, MD, CEO of Steward, said in the release. "This innovative new product will give small business owners the ability to reinvest in their businesses and provide the security of comprehensive health insurance to their employees."
