Senator Threatens Government Shutdown to Block PPACA

Sen. Mike Lee (R-Utah) has stated that a coalition of senators are willing to shut down the government to prevent the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act from taking effect, according to a report by The Hill.

Sen. Lee, who said he is joined by 13 or 14 other Republicans, said the group will block a continuing resolution to fund the government past Sept. 30 if the resolution contains funding for the PPACA, according to the report.

"If Republicans in both houses simply refuse to vote for any continuing resolution that contains further funding for further enforcement of ObamaCare, we can stop it. We can stop the individual mandate from going into effect," explained Sen. Lee on "Fox and Friends," according to the report.
