The CEO of Santa Clara Valley Health and Hospital System in San Jose, Calif., has resigned, following reports of disagreements over budget cuts with the physician who runs the county, according to a report in the Mercury News.
Resigning CEO Kim Roberts, whose \system operates 574-bed Santa Clara Valley Medical Center, reportedly disagreed with her boss, County Executive Jeffrey Smith, MD, on running the hospital under a shrinking budget.
Dr. Smith said he is trying to maintain the hospital's excellence while finding savings in its $1.2 billion operation to avert a $250 million projected shortfall next year in the county's $2 billion budget.
