Poll: Voter Support for PPACA Drops to 39%

The portion of U.S. voters who favor most or all of the proposals included in the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act dropped to 39 percent this month from 51 percent in January, according to a CNN/ORC International poll.

DoctorJust 6 percent of voters approve of all of the healthcare reform law's provisions and 33 percent approve of most of them, compared with 7 percent and 44 percent respectively about eight months ago, according to the poll, which was conducted from Sept. 6-8. Twenty percent of voters said they opposed all of the law in the most recent poll, and 37 percent opposed most of it, up from 15 percent and 29 percent in January.

A Kaiser Family Foundation poll released last month also found a negative slant, with 42 percent of Americans expressing an unfavorable view of the PPACA and 37 percent viewing it favorably. Those percentages have held relatively steady since February, according to Kaiser.

Despite a sizeable portion of voters expressing dislike for the reform law, Kaiser found 57 percent disapprove of recent Republican efforts to cut off funding to stop its implementation, a finding consistent in Kaiser polls since January.
