A Davidson County (Tenn.) judge recently reversed an earlier approval of a certificate of need for a planned 56-bed HCA hospital in Spring Hill, Tenn., according to a report by The Tennessean.
The state's Health Services Development Agency previously approved the development of the facility, but the Davidson County judge called its approval an "error in judgment," according to the report.
The HCA facility is opposed by Williamson Medical Center in Franklin, Tenn., and Maury Regional Hospital in Columbia, Tenn., who say there is not sufficient community need for the new facility.
HCA can appeal the judge's ruling with the Tennessee Court of Appeals.
