Doctors Hospital in Grand Forks (N.D.), part of the physician-owned Physicians Hospital System based in Mishawaka, Ind., is expected to open this February, according to a Grand Forks Herald report.
The 65-bed for-profit facility is still pending accreditation and licensure by state and national agencies.
Section 6001 of the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act restricts new physician-owned hospitals from opening, but the Doctors Hospital building was constructed in 2009, before the passing of the healthcare law. The company that originally built the hospital sold it to PHS in 2011, according to the report.
