Escondido, Calif.-based Palomar Health opened its $956 million "Hospital of the Future," named for its innovative design and advanced technology, according to the release.
The new 740,000-square-foot Palomar Medical Center includes 288 beds, but will eventually be built out to a maximum of 650 beds, according to the release. The new hospital will provide inpatient care, rehabilitation services, surgical and interventional services and emergency and trauma services. The hospital's new emergency department and trauma center opened in conjunction with the new facility.
The original Palomar Medical Center will remain open under a different name — Palomar Health Downtown Campus — and will offer women's, children's, rehabilitation, behavioral health and minor injury/illness services.
