Northwestern University to Disclose Business Relationships Medical School Faculty

Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine in Chicago has announced that it plans to disclose the business relationships of its more than 2,000 faculty members, according to a report by Crain's Chicago Business.

Northwestern is one of several medical schools in the country who have mandated a disclosure of faculty relationships with drug and device makers, including ownership interests, service on corporate board and consulting fees, according to the report.

All relationships are now disclosed on the school's Web site on each faculty member's profile.

The school's dean said in a statement that such relationships are necessary to advance science to benefit patients but that the school recognizes the importance of avoiding potential conflicts of interest, according to the report.
