No CBO Cost Estimate for Bill to Stop PPACA Implementation

The Congressional Budget Office has begun reviewing a bill that would prevent the Internal Revenue Service from implementing the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act but cannot determine its budgetary impact at this time.

Although the legislation is expected to reduce direct spending and revenues alike over the next decade, the bill's effect on the Department of the Treasury is uncertain, according to the CBO.

Congressional lawmakers will vote on the legislation — which was introduced by Rep. Tom Price (R-Ga.) —  this week. The bill would prohibit the Secretary of the Treasury from enforcing the PPACA. Its consideration marks the 40th time the House has voted on whether or not to repeal part of the PPACA.

House Democratic Leader Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) has released a statement calling the bill and the upcoming vote a waste of time.
