The New Hampshire House of Representatives voted 166 to 140 to repeal the certificate of need law, rejecting an amendment that would have phased out the CON board over five years, according to a New Hampshire Public Radio report.
Opponents of the CON process say it increases healthcare costs by prohibiting a free market, while supporters say it keeps costs down by preventing expensive healthcare facilities from being built.
The bill to repeal the CON law now goes to the Senate.
