New Hampshire Attorney General Objects to Dartmouth-Hitchcock, Catholic Medical Center Affiliation

New Hampshire Attorney General Michael Delaney has objected to a proposed affiliation between Lebanon, N.H.-based Dartmouth-Hitchcock Health and Manchester, N.H.-based Catholic Medical Center, according to a report by the Union Leader.

The Attorney General's objection came in a report released on Friday examining the proposed acquisition of Dartmouth-Hitchcock by CMC. The report cited a lack of evidence showing the transaction was in the best interest of the community as one reason for the objection.

The report noted that the agreement violated state law and would require probate court approval. CMC's potential control over a secular facility was also cited as a concern, according to the report.

Representatives from both hospitals, however, said they will move forward with affiliation plans, according to the report.
