The members of the Michigan Supreme Court voted 4-3 in support of an order that would change the deadlines for healthcare providers being sued for malpractice, according to a report in the Chicago Tribune.
The order would give healthcare providers 63 days in which to file a motion to challenge a notice of intent to sue, according to the report.
Republican justice Elizabeth Weaver along with Democrats Marilyn Kelly, Michael Cavanagh and Diane Hathaway voted in support of the order. Republicans Maura Corrigan, Robert Young and Stephen Markman opposed the order, according to the report.
