Michigan Hospital to Receive HUD Funding to Build New Facility

Baraga County Memorial Hospital in L'Anse, Mich., will receive a $28.3 million loan from the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development to build a new facility to replace the hospital's current facility, which was constructed in 1969, according to a news release by Rep. Bart Stupak (D-Mich.).

The proposed replacement facility will house 15 beds and will feature an outpatient center, retail pharmacy and imaging, laboratory, physical therapy and respiratory therapy services.

The loan is being provided through the Federal Housing Administration’s Section 242 Hospital Mortgage Insurance Program. HUD estimates the construction of the project will support 103 full-time jobs in the community and provide an economic stimulus of $70.5 million.
