Michigan Hospital Plans Layoffs, Citing Declining Volume Due to Loss of Health Insurance

Ingham Regional Medical Center in Lansing, Mich., will announce layoffs and changes in work and call schedules, citing a decline in patient volume, according to a report by Business Lansing.

The 363-bed hospital, operated by McLaren Health Care in Flint, blamed the slip in volume on laid-off workers losing health insurance coverage.

The hospital noted that the reduced volume now makes it possible to increase the number of private rooms.
