HMC/CAH Consolidated Buying Tennessee Hospital, Will Build Replacement

Kansas City-based HMC/CAH Consolidated is buying Baptist Lauderdale Hospital in Ripley, Tenn., from 15-hospital Baptist Memorial Health Care Corp. in Memphis and plans to build a replacement, according to a report by the Memphis Business Journal.

Scott Tongate, CEO of the 25-bed hospital, said the HMC/CAH hasn't announced when construction would start for Lauderdale, which was built in 1980.

HMC/CAH was founded as a private equity and financing operating company for the purpose of acquiring critical access hospitals and replacing the older ones.
