Speaking at White House town hall meeting on women's health Thursday, HHS Secretary Kathleen Sebelius said an overturning of the entire Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act would have a "pretty cataclysmic impact" on the nation, according to a Nurse.com report.
Sec. Sebelius said the Obama Administration will be ready to respond should the Supreme Court decide that all or even part of the PPACA is unconstitutional, although the secretary did not offer any specifics on how HHS might respond, according to the report.
Sec. Sebelius also noted, in the event the Supreme Court overturns the PPACA, Congress would need to establish new rates for Medicare because higher payment rates for primary care physicians, provided for in the healthcare law, would cease to exist.
