HHS: More Than 105M Americans Free of Lifetime Limits on Coverage

The Department of Health and Human Services announced the health reform law has eliminated lifetime limits on coverage for more than 105 million Americans.

Previously, many health insurance companies had a lifetime limit on the amount of money it would spend on members' coverage. People with serious illnesses thus risked reaching their lifetime limit and losing coverage for treatment.

The Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act prohibits health insurers from imposing lifetime dollar limits.
