HHS announced today that it has awarded $150 million to more than 1,000 health centers in all 50 states for the purpose of assisting the centers in enrolling uninsured Americans in the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act's new coverage options.
The health centers must use the funds to hire trained outreach and eligibility assistance workers; the centers will make approximately 3,000 new hires nationwide.
These awards are another step in the federal government's efforts to improve community-based health coverage outreach in advance of the January 2014 health insurance requirement deadline.
