HCA Will Not Appeal Ruling Against Proposed Tennessee Hospital

TriStar Health Systems, a division of Hospital Corporation of America, has said that it will not appeal a judge's ruling to deny the company a certificate of need to develop a new hospital in Spring Hill, Tenn., according to a report by The Tennessean.

Tennessee's Health Services and Development Agency previously approved the certificate of need for the proposed 56-bed hospital, but the approval was overturned twice, earlier by an administrative law judge and now by a Davidson County (Tenn.) Chancery Court, according to the report.

The proposed hospital was opposed by Williamson Medical Center in Franklin, Tenn., and Maury Regional Medical Center in Columbia, Tenn. Both public hospitals argued there was insufficient need for a new hospital in the community.

TriStar will not appeal the most recent ruling but will look for alternative ways to provide healthcare services to residents of the community, according to the report.
