HCA Midwest to Buy Midwest Cardiology Associates

HCA Midwest Health System, based in Kansas City, Mo., has announced that it will buy Midwest Cardiology Associates for an undisclosed sum, according to an HCA Midwest news release.

Midwest Cardiology Associates was founded in 1977 and includes 13 heart specialists. The practice will continue to treat patients at its offices located within three of HCA Midwest's hospitals — Centerpoint Medical Center in Independence, Mo.; Menorah Medical Center in Overland Park, Kan.; and Overland Park (Kan.) Regional Medical Center.

The practice also currently provides cardiology services for Sisters of Charity of Leavenworth Health System's Providence Medical Center in Kansas City, Kan.

HCA Midwest's acquisition of Midwest Cardiology will further the system's cardiology services. HCA Midwest is the only health system in the Kansas City area to offer five Cycle II Accredited Chest Pain Centers, and all five centers achieve door-to-balloon times of 90 minutes or less 100 percent of the time, according to the report.
