Ottumwa (Iowa) Regional Health Center will be purchased by Nashville, Tenn.-based RegionalCare Hospital Partners, making it the largest Iowa hospital to be run by a for-profit entity, according to a report in the Des Moines Register.
Ottumwa Regional will be the first hospital owned by the five-month-old RegionalCare, according to the report. Officials from the hospital said that no changes will occur in the hospital's charity care or community benefits as a result of the purchase.
The hospital also plans to establish an independent community foundation once the facility's long-term debts are paid, according to the report.
