Catholic Healthcare West, based in San Francisco, has committed an additional $400 million to expand its electronic health record system, after an initial roll-out of the system to eight of its hospitals, according to a report in the Sacramento Business Journal.
CHW has now devoted $1 billion to installing EHR at its hospitals. The system previously approved $590 million for the roll-out at the first group of hospitals, but only spent $240 million, according to the report. CHW expects the costs to be less per hospital because the team implementing the installation has more experience through the pilot program.
CHW has 41 hospitals in Arizona, California and Nevada.
