Arkansas to Develop Medicaid Payment System to Promote Evidence-Based, Coordinated Care

Arkansas has received approval from HHS to develop a new payment model for its Medicaid program that would reward evidence-based, coordinated care, according to a Forbes report.

The overhaul is intended to help close the $80 million gap in funding the program faces next year.

Any specific changes to the program's payment model will still need to be approved by HHS, but the initial approval shows HHS' support for the state's attempt to bend the cost curve.
