The University of Pittsburgh Medical Center has agreed to pay $956,590 to end a federal False Claims Act review stemming from a billing error, according to a Pittsburgh Post-Gazette report.
The review began when UPMC voluntarily disclosed that some Medicare billings from its home health division were not supported by proper documentation of a visit with an authorized provider, according to the report.
UPMC has not admitted liability, but settled to end what promised to be a lengthy review, according to the report.
