University Medical Center of Southern Nevada in Las Vegas could soon face a costly class-action lawsuit over claims of unpaid overtime and other employee issues, according to a Las Vegas Sun report.
Currently, six of UMC's hourly employees are behind a lawsuit alleging the hospital owes them overtime pay accumulated from unused, and unpaid, lunch breaks, according to the report.
However, a "notice of pendency of collective action" was sent to all 3,421 UMC employees last week, inviting them to join the suit. The lawsuit, which aims to collect back pay plus 2 percent interest for all plaintiffs, could cost the hospital millions, according to the report.
