Torrance (Calif.) Memorial Medical Center is facing a lawsuit over a photo taken of a patient while she was undergoing surgery, according to a Los Angeles Times report.
An anesthesiologist put stickers on the patient's face and a nurses aide took the photo during a 2011 procedure, according to the report. The incident sparked a privacy lawsuit against the hospital.
Torrance Memorial officials confirm the incident happened, and medical staff involved have been disciplined, according to the report.
The patient is a former employee of the hospital, and the clinicians involved felt the patient would appreciate the joke, according to the report.
