Report: OIG Didn't Investigate 1,200 Medicare, Medicaid Fraud Reports

Due to a lack of resources, HHS's Office of the Inspector General did not investigate 1,200 reports of Medicare and Medicaid fraud and abuse over the past year, according to a report from The Center for Public Integrity.

The number of overlooked cases is only expected to rise — according to the report, the department is scheduled to lose another 400 employees whose primary job is investigating these claims.
