A former nurse charged with killing two nursing home patients is being accused of a third patient's death, Trib Live reported Oct. 3.
Heather Pressdee, 40, was charged with giving lethal doses of insulin to three patients, two of whom are not diabetic, at a skilled nursing facility in Chicora, Pa., in 2022. A 55-year-old man died Dec. 4, an 83-year-old man died Dec. 25 and a 73-year-old man was hospitalized Aug. 31 after seizing. She was charged May 24 with two counts of homicide, one count of attempted murder, three counts of neglect of a care-dependent person, three counts of reckless endangerment and one count of aggravated assault.
The latest civil suit alleges that Ms. Pressdee caused the death of a 68-year-old woman at Lower Burrell, Pa.-based Belair Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center by administering a lethal dose of insulin. The woman died Sept. 28, 2021. Ms. Pressdee is not currently facing criminal charges for that death.
Belair's parent company, Guardian Healthcare, told Trib Live that they "are devastated and disheartened that someone entrusted to care for our patients could do something like this. Our deepest sympathies go out to the families that have been impacted by Heather Pressdee’s actions and behavior."
