The Senate Health, Education, Labor and Pensions Committee will mark up four bills targeting pharmacy benefit managers on May 2, according to a news release from Committee Chair and Vermont Sen. Bernie Sanders.
The meeting will discuss the Pharmacy Benefit Manager Reform Act — which seeks to curb spread pricing and increase oversight on PBMs — and three other bills.
A handful of other PBM-targeted bills are dawdling through Congress, including the Drug Price Transparency in Medicaid Act of 2023 and the Prescription Pricing for the People Act, while the Federal Trade Commission investigates the industry that acts as a middleman between drugmakers and payers.
