An Ohio licensed practical nurse pleaded guilty to 17 counts of unwanted sexual contact with male patients.
Brian Frey, 54, worked at Marysville, Ohio-based Scotts Miracle Gro Corp.'s Wellness Center as an employee of Premise Healthcare, a Union County prosecutor news release said. In 2022, the Ohio Board of Nursing was notified by Marysville Division of Police of allegations of inappropriate behavior reported by a patient. An investigation alleged Mr. Frey performed testicular examinations on male patients, including juveniles, that he was not trained for nor qualified to perform and were outside the scope of practice for a licensed practical nurse.
Victims said Mr. Frey also asked inappropriate questions about their sex lives and texted patients after finding their information in their medical records. More than 17 victims were identified, but only 17 were used when pressing charges due to the passage of time or evidentiary issues, according to the release.
Mr. Frey pleaded guilty to 16 gross sexual imposition felonies and one misdemeanor charge of sexual imposition. He surrendered his nursing license at the initiation of the criminal investigation.
