An employee of Northwestern Memorial Hospital in Chicago has been charged with identify theft after she allegedly stole patients' personal information to pay her personal bills, according to a Chicago Tribune report.
Shatina Golden has been charged with aggravated identity theft and identity theft. When police searched Ms. Golden's home, they found personal information for more than 50 patients, including credit card numbers, birth dates and Social Security numbers, according to the report.
Ms. Golden, who has worked at Northwestern for four years, faces up to seven years in prison if convicted. Her specific position at the hospital was not included in the news report.
