Police have arrested a man who allegedly fired a gun inside St. Luke's Hospital in Kansas City, Mo., local authorities confirmed to Becker's.
Officers with the Kansas City Police Department were dispatched to the hospital July 12 at approximately 9:10 p.m., according to CBS affiliate KCTV. The Kansas City Police Department said the man allegedly assaulted a staff member, though St. Luke's told Becker's that no assault occurred.
When hospital security guards attempted to take the man into custody, he allegedly pulled out a handgun and fired one shot. No injuries were reported.
"Friday, July 12, at Saint Luke’s Hospital an intruder discharged a firearm after being confronted by security," a spokesperson for St. Luke's said July 15. "The individual was apprehended on site and no one was injured. We are cooperating fully with law enforcement and providing support to staff. We are grateful for the quick and professional response of our Saint Luke’s security team."
