Illinois Governor Bruce Rauner signed into law legislation requiring state hospitals adopt protocols for diagnosing and treating sepsis, according to WNIJ Radio.
The legislation was named after Gabby Galbo, a five-year-old girl who died from a tick bite that led to undiagnosed sepsis in 2012.
The bill signing ceremony took place at PresenceCovenantMedicalCenter in Urbana, Ill. Presence implemented protocols for treating sepsis in 2007.
