Haley Veterans Hospital Volunteer Accused of Stealing Patient Information

A former volunteer at the James A. Haley Veterans Hospital in Tampa, Fla., allegedly stole patient information to file for fraudulent income tax refunds, according to a Tampa Tribune report.

The hospital has notified the 106 patients believed to be affected by the scheme, and is cooperating with the Internal Revenue Service and HHS' Office of the Inspector General to ensure there have been no other breaches, or victims, according to the report.
