Forrest General in Mississippi Responds to Wesley Medical Center's Allegations

Forrest General Hospital in Hattiesburg, Miss., and a local ambulance provider have answered a lawsuit filed against them by Wesley Medical Center, denying allegations they funneled patients to Forrest General, according to a Hattiesburg American report.

In April, Wesley claimed that Forrest General and AAA Ambulance Service falsely classified "trauma" patients and told them they could only be taken to Forrest General when they were eligible for care at Wesley. The lawsuit included 10 examples of local residents asking AAA Ambulance to take them to Wesley for emergency services, but they were allegedly taken to Forrest General instead, according to the report.

The lawsuit also accuses AAA Ambulance of making defamatory statements about Wesley, falsifying medical records and ignoring patient requests, among other allegations.

Forrest General and AAA have said any statements by or attributed to them regarding Wesley were untrue, according to the report. In its answer, AAA also said acts or omissions of others "for whom AAA has no responsibility or liability" caused the injury Wesley alleges, according to the report.
