Exec at New Mexico's University Medical Center Resigns During Internal Audit

The vice president of corporate services at University Medical Center in Albuquerque has stepped down amid an internal audit that identified possible employee embezzlement, according to an Avalanche-Journal report.

Greg Bruce has held the position since 2005, and his resignation is effective immediately. UMC officials and spokespeople have not offered comment on the audit nor Mr. Bruce's resignation. Mr. Bruce declined comment, telling the Avalanche-Journal he will "let the press speak for itself," according to the report. A UMC spokesperson was unable to say how much money was embezzled, when it was embezzled and whether Mr. Bruce was involved.

The hospital has said it is cooperating with the FBI and U.S. Attorney's Office as the investigation continues, according to the report.
