The Director of CMS' Medicaid unit, Cindy Mann, has announced she is stepping down next month, according to a Wall Street Journal report.
Since taking over as the agency's Director of the Center for Medicaid and CHIP Services five years ago, Ms. Mann has overseen the expansion of Medicaid in 27 states. CMS administrator Marilyn Tavenner praised Ms. Mann's trustworthiness and passion in the email announcing the move, according to the report.
Ms. Mann's deputy, Vikki Wachino, will take over at the helm as acting director until a permanent replacement is found.
