Beth Israel Deaconess to Pay $5.3M in False Claims Settlement

Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center in Boston has agreed to pay $5.3 million to settle allegations of False Claims Act violations.

The federal suit claims that between 2004 and 2008, BIDMC billed Medicare for inpatient admissions that should have been billed as outpatient or observation services.

BIDMC has not admitted to wrongdoing as part of the settlement.
