9 indicted in alleged fraud scheme

Four owners and operators of Fairfax, Va.-based 1st Adult Pediatric Healthcare Services were among nine indicted for their roles in an alleged scheme to submit false claims to Medicaid for services that were not provided. 

The company is a Medicaid-enrolled home health agency providing private duty nursing, personal care and respite care services throughout Virginia, according to a Jan. 9 Justice Department news release. The alleged scheme involved falsifying records and documentation in support of the fraudulent claims submitted for reimbursement. 

 Here are the nine defendants charged with healthcare fraud for their alleged roles in the scheme. 

  • Carolyn Bryant-Taylor: Owner/operator 
  • Kafomdi Okocha: Owner/operator 
  • Samuel Okocha: Owner/operator 
  • Shekita Gore: Owner/operator 
  • Berthe Feuzeu: Nurse 
  • Anthony Kanu: Nurse 
  • Elizabeth Ilome: Medication technician
  • Eno Utuk: Nurse 
  • Rhabiatu Kamara: Nurse
