Palmer, Mass.-based Wing Memorial Hospital & Medical Center has eliminated 16 positions and cut the hours of 38 other employees, according to a report by The Republican.
The workforce reduction is the hospital's response to declining reimbursements and lower patient volumes. Wing Memorial fell $1.2 million behind projections at the end of its fiscal year, according to the report.
The cuts are not expected to affect the quality of patient care provided at the hospital.
