Fayetteville, Ark.-based Washington Regional Medical Center has cut 27 positions due to impacts of healthcare reform, according to an NWA Media report.
About 15 to 20 current employees will be laid off as a result of the workforce reduction. Affected employees could transfer to other open positions at Washington Regional, a system that includes an acute-care hospital, a rehabilitation hospital, kidney dialysis centers, an outpatient surgery center and several clinics.
Washington Regional has been affected by reduced reimbursements tied to the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act and its revenue has declined $8.75 million in each of the past two years.
