The Kern County Board of Supervisors has voted to approve layoffs at the financially troubled Kern County Medical Center in Bakersfield, Calif., according to a KBAK/KBFX report.
The supervisors also approved the closure of the hospital's home health and outpatient physical therapy departments.
Leaders of the county-owned hospital recommended the layoffs and closures to the board earlier this month.
Now, the hospital will eliminate 111 positions, 51 of which involve layoffs, according to the report.
