St. Joseph Mercy Saline (Mich.) plans to end its full-time emergency services and will lay off roughly 45 employees as a result, according to an Ann Arbor News report.
The hospital is replacing its 24-hour emergency room with a 12-hour urgent care facility, according to the report. Some of the employees affected by this switch were offered jobs at other St. Joseph's locations.
St. Josephs Mercy Saline will close its 24-hour ER in the spring. Its closure is expected to save the hospital money.
