Plumas District Hospital in Quincy, Calif., laid off four employees the week before Christmas, according to a Plumas County News report.
The hospital also cut the hours of two more employees. According to the report, the hospital added temporary jobs during an electronic medical record implementation, and the recent layoffs affected some of those employees.
Plumas District Hospital is losing $80,000 to $100,000 each month, according to the report.
"In this time of change, it is essential that we make every decision for the good of the entire organization and to best facilitate the functions of the hospital. The long-term viability and security of the hospital are of utmost importance to all of us," Doug Lafferty, CEO of the hospital, wrote in a letter to employees, according to the report.
