Ozarks Medical Center in West Plains, Mo., has laid off 11 employees in primarily nonclinical areas, according to a Houston Herald report.
OMC eliminated the positions as a response to declining reimbursements and inpatient volumes, according to the report. Many of the affected employees found other positions within the hospital.
"These have been extremely difficult decisions to make; however, it is imperative that OMC remains financially strong," Thomas Keller, president and CEO of OMC, told the Houston Herald. "Although we will continue to face challenges in the months and years ahead, I remain confident that OMC will provide exceptional care to this community long into the future."
The hospital is the area's largest employer with about 1,200 workers, according to the report.
