North Mississippi Health Services Lays Off 109

Tupelo-based North Mississippi Health Services has laid off 109 employees, according to a WTVA report.

The layoffs affected about 2 percent of the system's 6,190 employees. Affected employees are encouraged to apply for other open positions within the system, according to the report.

NMHS officials decided to make the cuts because of decreases in government reimbursement as well as a continued shift in patient use of inpatient to outpatient care settings.
