Glens Falls Hospital to Start Second Round of Layoffs

Glens Falls (N.Y.) Hospital plans to cut down its workforce through voluntary and involuntary layoffs, according to a Post Star report.

The number of affected employees is not yet clear, but those subject to involuntary layoffs will be notified by Nov. 1, according to the report.

Ninety-five employees have applied for voluntary separations, which exceeded the 50-application goal the hospital initially set. Employees who leave the hospital by choice will be offered severance pay based on their years at Glens Falls, according to the report.

Glens Falls Hospital has undergone some financial trouble, stemming in part from a decrease in emergency room visits, the Post Star reported.

This is the second round of layoffs at Glens Falls Hospital in the last year: the hospital laid off 29 employees in November 2012.
